More Studies Link Acupuncture to Positive Outcomes
If you are curious about whether or not acupuncture can improve your odds of becoming pregnant and carrying that pregnancy to term, read on.
A recent study demonstrated that acupuncture increases the frequency of ovulation in women with polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS). This year long investigation was published in the prestigious American Journal of Physiology – Endocrinology and Metabolism. Researchers noted that acupuncture led to significant changes in sex steroids, inhibin B, serum cortisol, and other hormones while increasing the frequency of ovulation in women with PCOS.
Recently published research demonstrated that acupuncture is beneficial when administered to women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). In this report, acupuncture administered on the day of the embryo transfer was associated with higher live birth rates.
How do you find a qualified acupuncturist who specializes in fertility treatment? You can find a practitioner in your area through the directory or through The American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM). Practitioners who are members of this board have demonstrated competency and advanced knowledge in the field of both Western and Oriental Reproductive Medicine by passing a rigorous advanced certification examination.
